February 2 (Wednesday): The Franciscan University of Steubenville Chapter of SCS is having a talk by Prof. James Vranish with the title “The Origin of Life: Plausibility and the Miraculous.” It will be on the Franciscan University campus in the Pugliese Auditorium of Cosmas & Damian Hall. Snacks & Social at 5pm. Talk starts at 5:15pm.
February 3 (Thursday): The DC/VA/MD Chapter of SCS is sponsoring a Gold Mass at 5:10pm EST on the campus of Catholic University of America in Caldwell Chapel of Caldwell Hall. A light reception will follow. An up-to-date List of Gold Masses in 2021-2 can be found HERE.
February 5 (Saturday): The SCS is sponsoring, along with the Lumen Christi Institute and the McGrath Institute for Church Life, an event for Catholic high school students, teachers, and parents called the “St. Albert Initiative on Science and the Catholic Faith.” It features talks and poster presentations by a dozen members of SCS. February 10 (Thursday): The Vancouver Chapter and Edmonton Chapter of SCS are having a free webinar at 7pm EST, 4pm PST given by Br. Guy Consolmagno, SJ, Director of the Vatican Observatory. The title of his talk is “Faith, Science and the Common Good.” To learn more and register go HERE
February 18 (Friday): The Franciscan University of Steubenville Chapter of SCS is having a talk by Prof. Lawrence Principe of Johns Hopkins University on “Franciscan Science and Spirituality in the Middle Ages.” It will be at 3pm in the J.C. Williams Center of the university. (Prof. Principe received the SCS’s 2021 St. Albert Award.) For information contact jvranish@franciscan.edu
