DESCRIPTION:There will be a lecture on Thursday\, March 12\, at 7:00pm in the Foundations Room at St. Vincent College in Latrobe\, PA.  The lecture is lecture entitled “Laudato Si’ and the Call to Learn the Language of Creation” and will be given by Sr. Damien Marie Savino\, F.S.E.\, Ph.D. \nSr. Damien Marie Savino is a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist and recent author of Learning the Language of Creation: Catholic Social Teaching and Integral Ecology (Liturgical Press). Sr. Savino currently serves as the Melchor Visiting Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame. Previously\, she was Dean of Science and Sustainability at Aquinas College (Grand Rapids\, MI). She is also a member of the Executive Board of the Society of Catholic Scientists. \nThis lecture is co-sponsored by the St. Vincent Center for Catholic Thought and Culture and the St. Vincent College Chapter of SCS. \nFor more information contact Fr. SUMMARY:2026 St. Albert Initiative on Science and the Catholic Faith on March 13 in San Francisco\, CA.
DESCRIPTION:March 13\, 2026\, at 8:45 am – 2:30 pm \nThe 2025 St. Albert Initiative will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep School in San Francisco\, CA\, on Thursday\, March 6\, 2025\, from 8:45 am to 2:30 pm.   (Sign-in at 8:45am. Events start at 9:15am). \nThe St. Albert Initiative is a half-day program on science and faith for Catholic high school students\, teachers\, and parents as well as the general public (high school age and above).  It will feature short talks by Catholic scientists and the opportunity to meet\, eat with\, and ask questions of Catholi scientists in many fields and at various stages of their careers. \nFive previous St. Albert Initiatives have been held: in Washington\, DC. in November 2021;  in Chicago in February 2022; in Philadelphia in March 2023; in New Orleans in February\, 2024\, and in Louisville in March 2025.  The response from attendees at all those events\, both students and adults\, was extremely positive. \nNearly complete Information about the Event can be found HERE\, including its Schedule and Program and brief biographies of the speakers and presenters. \nRegistration: HERE is a page containing the Registration Link. \nThis event is co-sponsored by the McGrath Institute for Church Life and made possible by a generous grant from the John Templeton Foundation. \n
