Gold Mass and Lecture at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS, on Nov 15.

There will be a Gold Mass at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, Nov 15, in St. Benedict’s Abbey Church (1020 N 2nd St, Atchison, KS 66002) on the campus of Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. The celebrant will be Abbot James Albers, OSB, of St. Benedict’s Abbey.
After the Mass, there will be a reception at 6:30 PM and a Public Lecture at 7:00 PM. The lecture, entitled “‘The heavens declare the glory of God’: Catholic Contributions to Astronomy from the Middle Ages to Modernity” will be given by Prof. Christopher Shingledecker of Benedictine College. Prof. Shingledecker’s team was among the first to use the James Webb Space Telescope and were the first to observe a star-forming region.
